Post-pitch story
Matt Truebe came to The Pitch in Season 14 (Episode 175, "The Allergy Clinic of the Future") with a plan to rebuild allergy care. Truebe had worked in tech at Parsley Health, Cerebral and PatientPop. His Above Health pitch combined a digital allergy clinic with telehealth, personalized allergen lab panels and three of its own devices: a smart inhaler with GPS tracking, a clinical-grade digital stethoscope, and an AI system built to detect anaphylaxis. He was raising $1 million, and before the show he had only $150,000 from a single investor. The taping went better than his chaotic delivery might have suggested. According to The Pitch, several investors gave verbal commitments in the room that added up to about $450,000. The Season 14 finale picked up the story during diligence. Truebe had closed roughly $700,000 of the $1 million round by then. Cyan Banister, who had committed $100,000 in person, eventually passed after her team ran its own diligence calls. Part of the concern was Truebe's plan to buy existing allergy clinics with equity, so they could fund FDA trials profitably before his devices are approved. Above Health's website still presents the company as an allergy and asthma platform that pairs allergists with at-home monitoring. The fundraising figures come only from The Pitch's own coverage, and so far there's no independent record of the round.
