Post-pitch story
Ben Walters came on the show mid-pivot, which is about as honest as a pitch gets. His company Feedback had started as a platform fighting food waste by connecting restaurants with surplus food to hungry customers, and he was in the middle of swinging it toward Gravy.ai, a restaurant up-selling platform. Investor Sarah Downey bought in anyway. The pivot never had to prove itself for long: in September 2019, just months after the episode aired, travel company Hopper acqui-hired the team to lead its Toronto expansion. It wasn't a headline-grabbing exit, but it was a real one — the team and talent found a home inside one of Canada's biggest tech companies. Walters has kept climbing since: after Hopper, he eventually landed at Fullscript, where he's been Head of Journeys since 2025. Feedback's episode was titled "Pivot or Die," and the title turned out to be prophetic — the company pivoted, and the founders lived to build again.
