immersionED
Edtech
Post-pitch story
Chad Wilson thinks history class should feel less like memorizing dates and more like being there. His Chicago company, immersionED, founded in 2022, makes video games that drop students into historical moments so they can explore, make choices and learn along the way. Before Season 12, Episode 7 aired in September 2024, Wilson had already put the company through a busy accelerator run. immersionED completed Techstars Chicago in 2023 and joined the gener8tor OnRamp Education and Workforce Accelerator with ECMC Group that April, saying it planned to raise a pre-seed round. In April 2024, Wilson was chosen to pitch at ASU's InvestU during the ASU+GSV Summit, one of edtech's biggest gatherings. The company points to strong interest from its target customers: by its own survey, 94% of more than 4,000 history teachers said they'd be interested in using its games. What we couldn't find is a public funding announcement, revenue figure or confirmed investment from the show. immersionED appears to still be early, with a small team building out its games and looking for classrooms and backers. That's not unusual for edtech, where school buying cycles are slow. If teacher interest turns into real classroom adoption, immersionED could be one to watch.
