Post-pitch story
Christopher Hussain knew the mortgage industry's paperwork problem from the inside — he was a top loan originator and had already co-founded Sindeo, which raised $50 million before being acquired. With RealKey, he set out to automate the document chase that makes getting a mortgage miserable, using AI to handle collection and underwriting workflows. When he pitched on the show in September 2020, the company was already doing about $70,000 a month in revenue. The pitch worked out. In October 2021, RealKey raised a $3.4 million seed round led by Zulu Assets, with backers including Second Century Ventures, the National Association of Realtors' investment arm — a telling vote of confidence from the industry itself. By then it had partnered with Flagstar Bank and a network of about 100 lenders. RealKey went through MassChallenge in 2021 and Google for Startups' Cloud accelerator in 2023, and in 2025 it placed second at Startup Grind's Global Pitch Battle while raising its next round. Hussain is still founder and CEO, and the company remains active. Two decades into fixing mortgages, he's still at it.
