Andrew McHugh pitched Wist in October 2023 on "The Killer Use Case for VR?" Wist turns phone videos into immersive 3D memories you can step back into with a headset. The idea got a boost when Apple pushed spatial video with the Vision Pro, and in September 2025, Wist launched on Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest. UploadVR said it delivered "Minority Report"-style memory replay. But a great demo isn't the same as a sustainable business. Wist announced it would shut down on March 19, 2026, citing sustainability challenges, and said user data would be deleted.
