Goodtalk
Post-pitch story
Ben Trenda pitched Goodtalk as an antidote to the internet's comment sections: a social conversation app where you could follow interesting group chats without the trolls. Its biggest moment was a genuinely clever one. During Super Bowl LIII in 2019, around 500,000 people used Goodtalk to follow a live group chat between five elite NFL quarterbacks as they watched the game. It was the kind of stunt that showed exactly what the product could be. Goodtalk was eventually sunsetted, and Trenda moved into a run of senior roles at other companies. He served as an entrepreneur-in-residence at AI Fund, and as chief revenue officer or president at companies including Parsec Media and Spaceback. In September 2026, he was named chief revenue officer at Scowtt, a predictive AI platform for advertisers. Goodtalk's idea of curated, troll-free conversation has since become a crowded space, with group chats, live audio rooms and creator communities all chasing the same feeling. Trenda got there early, and that Super Bowl chat remains a memorable piece of startup showmanship. The app is gone, but its founder has become one of the ad-tech world's go-to revenue leaders.
