Chef Brad Kent co-founded Blaze Pizza and served as its chief culinary officer from 2011 to 2023. In Season 14 (Episode 170, "The Best Bagel You've Never Heard Of") he and co-founder David Cohen pitched Original Sunshine, a bagel brand that's gluten-free, non-GMO and made with glyphosate-free, regeneratively grown ingredients. They also pulled off one of the show's best stunts. For days before the taping, they had been secretly serving the investors their gluten-free bagels, then revealed it in a blind taste test. The numbers backed up the bagels. The founders reported revenue climbing from $660,000 in 2023 to $1.6 million in 2024, with margins improving from 37% to 44% after they started distributing through Dot Foods. They projected $3.5 million for 2025 and $10 million for 2026, and they were raising $1 million at a $9 million valuation. The Pitch's founder pages for both men carry a "funded" tag, and Cohen's bio says the company secured investment on the show. The deal's size and terms haven't been made public. Original Sunshine's website is live, and Kent appeared again in the Season 14 finale. The 2025 and 2026 revenue numbers were forecasts made at the pitch, not reported results.
