Post-pitch story
David Sarabia pitched inRecovery with personal conviction: technology to support people through addiction recovery. The early signs were promising — the company raised venture funding in October 2018 and joined the StartUp Health accelerator. What followed is harder to pin down. PitchBook lists the company as out of business as of late 2021, yet Sarabia has continued to appear under the inRecovery banner, pitching at health industry events as recently as January 2025. Along the way his focus widened dramatically: in 2022 he launched Recoverly, organizing supply runs and support efforts in Ukraine, and he has spoken publicly from the conflict zone about that work. As of late 2025 he still identifies as inRecovery's CEO. Whether inRecovery is a dormant company, a slow-burn mission, or something in between is genuinely unclear — but Sarabia himself hasn't stopped building, and his post-pitch path has been one of the more unconventional ones from this season.
