ChurchSpace
Post-pitch story
ChurchSpace pitched a simple idea with a big mission: help churches rent out their buildings during the six days a week they sit empty. Since appearing on the show, the Houston-founded startup has made a move few saw coming — literally. In May 2025, the company announced it had raised $1.2 million in an oversubscribed seed round led by Black Ops Ventures, with participation from Minor Capital and Michigan Rise. Alongside the funding, ChurchSpace relocated its headquarters from Houston to Detroit, partnering with the city on a "Church-as-an-Economic-Engine" initiative that reimagines church campuses as hubs for micro-logistics and last-mile delivery. The numbers behind the mission keep growing, too. As of 2024, churches on the platform were reportedly earning an average of $60,000 per year through rentals — meaningful revenue for congregations that often struggle to keep the lights on. Co-CEOs Emmanuel Brown and Day Edwards Antwi have framed the Detroit move as more than a change of address: it's a bet that faith-based real estate can anchor neighborhood economies. From a pitch about empty pews to a city-backed urban revitalization partner, ChurchSpace's post-show chapter has been one of the more striking trajectories of Season 11.
