Devina Desai
Pitched on the show
Kinometrix Inc
Post-pitch story
Kinometrix has changed shape more than once, and the version Devina Desai brought to The Pitch is about one of the most common and costly problems in hospitals: patients falling. The company started around 2018 with a motion-tracking sensor for physical therapy, backed by the Inova Personalized Health Accelerator. Under Desai as CEO, Kinometrix moved toward hospital patient safety, building a fall-risk prediction tool that uses machine learning on electronic health records to flag which patients are most likely to fall before it happens. That shift came with a lot of activity. Kinometrix opened a funding round in October 2021, went through Techstars Los Angeles, partnered with patient-monitoring company AvaSure, presented at the ViVE health conference in 2023 and took investment from Angel Star Ventures. StartUp Health profiled it in March 2023 as an AI fall-prevention platform. After that, the public trail goes quiet. We couldn't find funding amounts, customer counts or major announcements from after Kinometrix's Season 12 appearance, and most of what's public comes from the company's own website. Selling to hospitals takes time. A tool that keeps patients from falling is worth a lot to them, but the next chapter of this story will depend on which health systems sign on.
