Girum Tihtina
Pitched on the show
Doctours
Post-pitch story
Girum Tihtina, a former payments engineer at Meta, pitched Doctours in Season 14 (Episode 171, "VC Funded Hair Transplants?!"). His idea was a medical-tourism marketplace that helps Americans book affordable procedures abroad. He started with hair transplants in Turkey and planned to expand into IVF, orthopedics, dental and vision care. At the taping he described about 50 bookings, mostly from TikTok marketing, around $20,000 in revenue and roughly $200,000 in gross bookings. He was raising $1 million at an $8 million valuation and said $850,000 was already committed. The panel wasn't convinced. Investors including Cyan Banister, Charles Hudson and Monique Woodard passed. Woodard said she could only see Doctours becoming "the plastic surgery place," not the wide medical-travel platform Tihtina described, and the season finale recap called the pitch a spectacular fail. Tihtina returned briefly in the finale, but The Pitch reported no funding close for Doctours, and his founder page has no "funded" tag. Doctours is still running. Its website is live and focuses on one thing, affordable hair transplants, so the wider vision from the pitch hasn't shown up publicly yet. We found no outside news about later funding or team changes. Whether Tihtina raised the rest of his round away from the show is still an open question.
