Post-pitch story

James Kubik pitched Somewear Labs with a pocket-sized satellite device that let hikers and adventurers text from anywhere, even far beyond cell service. Since then, the company has found its biggest customer: the military. In 2024 Somewear launched Horizon, a radio system that lets military drones operate beyond line of sight. In April 2025 it won a Defense Innovation Unit contract for Marine Corps tactical communications in the Indo-Pacific, and in October 2025 it won an Air Force contract for real-time maintenance prediction across deployed fleets. Kubik is still CEO, and the company is now expanding into larger military and industrial work. It's a classic post-pitch pivot in focus: the same technology, aimed at a market with much bigger stakes.
