Pitched on the show
Jiobit
Post-pitch story
John Renaldi pitched Jiobit as a tiny, kid-proof location tracker — a clip-on device that lets parents know where their children are without handing them a smartphone. It was one of those pitches where the product just made sense, and the market agreed. Jiobit spent the years after the show building out its hardware and subscription service, earning a reputation as one of the best-engineered trackers in its category. Then came the ending every founder hopes for: in April 2021, about six years after founding, Jiobit was acquired by Life360, the family location-safety company, and its technology became part of a platform used by millions of families. Renaldi didn't disappear after the exit. He spent two years at Google as Head of Product and Design for Wear OS — the software behind Google's smartwatches — working on products like the Pixel Watch. These days he's come back to where the craft is taught: he's an adjunct lecturer at Northwestern University, teaching product design and entrepreneurship to the next generation of founders. From a nervous pitch to an acquisition, a stint shaping Google's wearables, and now a classroom — Jiobit's story is one of the cleaner arcs the show has produced.
