Pitched on the show
Teamable
Post-pitch story
Laura Bilazarian pitched Teamable as a smarter way to hire: a platform that mined employees' social networks to surface strong referral candidates. After the show, the company raised a $5 million Series A led by True Ventures in 2017, and about $13.6 million in total over its life. Teamable evolved into a broader AI-driven recruiting and diversity-sourcing tool, and its leadership changed over the years — Justin Palmer and later Matthew Raymond took over as CEO. In May 2024 Teamable was acquired by Humanly, a Seattle recruiting-technology startup, to combine their AI hiring tools; Raymond joined Humanly as vice president of product. Bilazarian had already moved on well before the sale. Since 2019 she has run Seven Commas, an advisory firm that helps venture-backed AI startups with finance and operations, and she describes herself as an exited founder now focused on AI in biotech and pharma, including work with Intelligencia AI on drug development. She's also an investor in the SaaStr Fund. Teamable is one of Season 1's quieter success stories: no splashy IPO, but a company that kept building for most of a decade and found a home, with a founder who turned the experience into a career helping the next wave of startups.
