Post-pitch story

Pixel Canvas started as a virtual reality game studio in Los Angeles, and Liam Nguyen took over as CEO in 2019. Then the pandemic shut down live events, and the team made a sharp turn. Instead of games, Pixel Canvas began hosting virtual and hybrid events in immersive 3D spaces. The pivot worked. UCLA Anderson highlighted how the studio powered the 2020 Gerald Loeb Awards online, and in 2021 Pixel Canvas built virtual activations for WarnerMedia at Sundance and SXSW. For a few years, when nobody could gather in person, it was exactly what the market needed. Nguyen later moved on, with product roles at the event platform Hubilo, medical company CooperSurgical, and most recently as Director of Product at Machinify. The Pixel Canvas name lives on as a browser-based 3D and immersive web platform at pixelcanvas.ai, though we couldn't confirm how directly it connects to the original team. From VR games to virtual award shows to immersive websites, Pixel Canvas is a good example of a startup changing direction when the world changed. Its founder took those lessons into a broader career in product.
