Sene
Post-pitch story
Ray Li and Mark Zheng's Sene sells custom-fitted clothing without the price tag of a tailor. Customers answer a few questions, and Sene's "SmartFit" system makes suits, chinos and jeans to their measurements. The road here was bumpy. The company began as Suitable and nearly ran out of money before pivoting in 2019 to the model it uses today. It relaunched on Kickstarter in May 2019 with its flagship FlexTech Suit, then added a custom jeans program. Celebrity partnerships followed: a custom denim collection with Peloton instructor Emma Lovewell in 2021, and another with actor Ashley Tisdale in 2023. Sene has also leaned into ethics, earning SA8000 and WRAP certifications for its factory partners and pitching made-to-measure as a way to cut fashion waste. The company has raised about $2 million through seed rounds and equity crowdfunding. LinkedIn listed about 257 people connected to the company in late 2024. Li remains CEO and Zheng is co-founder and president. For a brand that almost didn't survive its first version, Sene has found its fit.
